Rules - How to play Chickie Nuggs!

OBJECT OF THE GAME - The goal is to assemble the best (highest point value) set of up to 6 nuggets and 2 dipping sauces onto your TRAY. The player who has the TRAY with the most points at the end wins the game.

 

NUMBER OF PLAYERS - The game is designed for four players but may be played with 2 or 3.  We highly suggest playing with at least 3 players.

 

SET UP - Remove the FLYING NUGGET cards from the deck. Shuffle the deck and deal 8 cards to each player. These cards will become their HAND. Reinsert the FLYING NUGGET cards into the deck and shuffle. Place the deck in the middle of the table to become the DRAW PILE.

 

GAME PLAY - Select a player to go first. After a player’s turn ends, the person to their left will go next.  During a player’s turn they may play up to two non-NUGGET cards. Cards that have been played will go into the DISCARD PILE. A player’s turn will end by placing a NUGGET card or a DIPPING SAUCE card onto their TRAY and drawing a card from the DRAW PILE. If a player has no NUGGET cards in their hand or if their TRAY is full then they may simply end their turn by drawing a card.

A player may draw up to two cards if they have two or less cards in their hand.

 

ENDING THE GAME - The game will end when the last card has been taken from the DRAW PILE. If the last card is FLYING NUGGETS it must be played out before the game ends. To determine the winner,  add up the point values of the cards in each player’s TRAY. If there is a tie, then the player with the most cards in their TRAY is the winner. If the game is still tied then the player who has the most points from the cards left in their hand is the winner.

 

CARDS - NUGGET CARDS are played by placing the card onto your TRAY. You may only place one card per turn. The number in the top left corner is the point value of that nugget.

ORDINARY NUGGET - This card is worth 1 point.
QUALITY NUGGET - This card is worth 2 points.
PREMIUM NUGGET - This card is worth 3 points.
EXTRA NUGGETS - This card is worth 4 points.

DIPPING SAUCE CARDS may be played two different ways. (1) You may place the card onto your tray. The number in the top left corner is the point value of that dipping sauce or (2) You may place the card into the DISCARD PILE and perform the action printed on the card.

RANCH / CHECK THE FREEZER - You may look at the top 4 cards of the DRAW PILE. Do not change the order of the cards unless you choose to shuffle the entire DRAW PILE.
HONEY MUSTARD / DISCARD - You may remove 1 nugget from your Tray and place it in the DISCARD PILE.
BUFFALO / GIMME NUGGS - Choose a player to hold out only their NUGGET CARDS. You may randomly take 1 card to place into your HAND.
BBQ / SKIP - This card will immediately end your  turn. Do not draw any cards. The next player will have their entire turn skipped.
SWEET & SOUR / STEAL - You may randomly take any card from another player’s HAND and place it in your HAND.
ACTION CARDS are played by performing the action printed on the card and then placing the card into the DISCARD PILE.
BURNT NUGGET - This card allows you to declare 1 of your opponent’s nuggets as “burnt”. You select 1 NUGGET CARD that has been placed on their TRAY to be removed and placed in the DISCARD PILE.
INCOGNUGGO - This card allows you to place a NUGGET CARD onto your TRAY face down in order to keep its points value secret.
DROPPED NUGGET - This card may be played anytime an opponent attempts to play GIMME NUGGS on you.  This card will cancel GIMME NUGGS.
FIVE-SECOND RULE - This card cancels your opponents attempt to play DROPPED NUGGET and now they must give you the NUGGET CARD with the highest value in their hand.
FLYING NUGGETS - If you draw this card it must be immediately played.  The opponents to your left and right each get to choose 1 NUGGET CARD from your TRAY and place it into their HAND. The opponent on your left gets first choice. If you don’t have any or enough nuggets then those players are just left out.
